Overcoming Chronic Low Back Pain with Performance Physical Therapy

Client: Sarah, 42, Active Professional and Mother of Two

Challenge:

Sarah had been battling persistent low back pain for over two years. Despite multiple visits to traditional insurance-based clinics, she saw little improvement. Each appointment felt rushed as she was only spending about 10 minutes with her actual therapist, prescribed only with generic exercises and no clear path forward. Frustrated with the lack of progress and unable to keep up with her active lifestyle, Sarah sought out a different approach.

Our Approach

When Sarah came to us, we started with a comprehensive performance evaluation and assessment to uncover any range of motion, strength, technical, capacity related, or lifestyle related issues. Unlike the standard insurance model, we had the flexibility to spend time assessing her unique movement patterns, identifying specific areas of weakness and restriction. We broke down her squat and deadlift technique, found a couple of key ranges of motion restrictions, and strength imbalances.

With our proprietary blended approach to care we created a custom plan which included:

Hands-on manual therapy to address mobility restrictions.

Tailored strength and stability exercises targeting her core and hips.

Custom modifications so she could maintain her fitness while rehabbing.

Our cash-based model allowed us to provide exactly what Sarah needed with one-on-one sessions as well as access to her provider through an app where her Prescriptive Exercise Program was delivered.

Results

After just six sessions over eight weeks, Sarah reported a significant reduction in her pain. By the end of her program, she was back to running, playing with her kids, and handling her daily activities without fear of discomfort. We continued to work together through our virtual Prescriptive Exercise Program until she achieved a complete outcome which she felt confident navigating her training on her own.

In Her Words

"For years, I felt stuck. Every clinic I visited prior to this one rushed me through the same cookie-cutter process, and nothing worked. This experience was completely different. They took the time to really understand my body and goals. Someone who actually gave me a plan that made sense and looked like my training. I feel strong, capable, and pain-free!!"

Tackling Shoulder Pain with a Customized Approach

Client: James, 37, Weekend Athlete and Desk Worker

Challenge:

James was an avid weightlifter and recreational athlete who started experiencing shoulder pain during workouts. Over time, the discomfort escalated, making everyday tasks like lifting his kids or reaching overhead increasingly difficult.James knew he wanted more than a one-size-fits-all rehab experience. As someone who valued staying active, he sought a provider who truly understood the physical demands of his activities and could craft a solution tailored to his goals. That’s when he decided to take a non-traditional route with our cash-based care model.

Our Approach

James actually began his journey with us during a  complimentary movement screen at his gym where we identified some significant restrictions that matched up to the symptoms he was experiencing. James decided to go all-in and sign up for our performance assessment the next day. We were able to audit James’ technique and identify some strength deficits that were also contributing to some of his symptoms.

We managed James with a blend of in-person sessions and a virtual Prescriptive Exercise program to include:

Manual therapy for initial pain control. Joint mobilizations and soft tissue work to restore mobility.

Progressive reloading of painful movements with a Prescriptive Exercise Program to ensure a gradual reintroduction of previously painful movements tailored to his fitness level, focusing on creating a protective workload so the injury does not reoccur in the future.

Training volume education: We worked with James to reorganize his training weeks so he didn’t run into patterns or habits of overtraining.

Because James chose a non-traditional approach we were able to focus on his exact goals, both from rehab and performance efforts without any worry or constraints from insurance limitations.

Results

In just 8 weeks, James regained full range of motion and felt confident in his ability to lift and perform overhead movements. By the end of his program, not only was he back to weightlifting pain-free, but he even saw improvements in his overall strength and performance by hitting a new PR

In His Words

"I wanted a provider who understood the demands of my workouts and wouldn’t just give me a generic plan. This was the perfect fit. They took the time to build a program tailored to my goals and gave me the tools to stay strong and pain-free long-term. For the second half of our plan, I didn’t even have to go in for visits to continue my progress. I’m back to doing what I love without limitations."

TESTIMONIALS

What others are saying

"Loved everything so far"

I am an avid tennis player and hurt the back of my thigh to the point where I was limping and it was hard to walk properly. I have never seen a physical therapist before and I was referred to Dr. Jordan by my personal trainer at the gym where I work out. Working with Dr. Jordan has been great. Not only am I back to playing tennis pain-free, but after our in person sessions, he continues to work with me with structured workouts to prevent re-injury. If you're looking for a PT, I highly recommend Dr. Jordan

"My life changed forever"

Jordan has been working with my son with stiffness and poor range of motion in his shoulder. This has affected his ability to pitch effectively and was prone to injury. Jordan works with him on a personalized plan geared towards his needs. Now my son's range of motion has greatly improved and even his pitching coach has noticed a big change. Highly recommend!!

"Highly recommend this"

I have a great appreciation for Jordan's ability to get a 62 year old worn out knee back to being able to play baseball again. I thought maybe it would be my time to hang it up. In a three month time frame the work I did with Jordan has been amazing. Stiffness and pain are gone and strength is back to support running. Can't express enough thanks for Jordan.
